A tonsillectomy is surgery to remove the tonsils.

The UPP is an operation performed on the soft palate and side walls of hte throat when the tonsils are present, it is done with tonsillectomy.
The UPP aims to reconstruct the position of soft palate so that it vibrates less ( reduce snoring ) and collapses less and improve sleep apnoea.
This operation is usually performed as a day procedure. The patient is anaesthetised and the voice box (larynx) is examined through a metal tube under magnification with a microscope. If there is an abnormality detected then this can either be biopsied, removed with micro-dissecting instruments, or ablated with a laser.
It is common to have sore throat, and small amounts of some blood stained mucous can be coughed up over the first few days.
An Oesophagoscopy is a procedure that looks inside your throat and the tube that leads to your stomach (oesophagus) using a thin flexible scope called an oesophagoscope passed through your mouth. Sometimes tissue biopsies are taken for testing.
It is common to have a sore throat after the procedure. Some nausea is common. After the anaesthetic you will be drowsy. You may vomit small amounts of blood from any biopsy sites.
Salivary gland stones, called sialolithiasis, are small calcium deposits that block the flow of saliva in the salivary glands. It is fairly common in both men and women, but affects men more frequently. Salivary gland swelling, pain, inflammation, and infection can occur if the stones are not removed. Salivary gland stones range in size and appearance, and these factors help to determine the best treatment and removal of the stones. Conservative treatments are most often used to remove a salivary gland stone; however, stones deep in the salivary duct or chronic stones may require surgical removal.
